What is Anti Malware?

An anti-malware is a software that protects the computer from malware such as spyware, adware, and worms. It scans the system for all types of malicious software that manage to reach the computer. An anti-malware program is one of the best tools to keep the computer and personal information protected.

An anti-malware is designed to eliminate malware from the computer. Although it has similarities with antivirus, an anti-malware program is different from antivirus. An anti-malware program has more advanced features and broader coverage. It addresses spyware, spam, and other threat issues that antivirus doesn’t.

The Difference Between Antivirus and Anti-Malware

Antivirus is a confusing matter: it’s called anti-virus, but there are tons of other types of malware out there. So…do those programs also scan for spyware, adware, and other threats. Security software is an essential tool for any computer, whether it’s a personal or business device; by now, this shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone. Not protecting your machine leaves it open to infection from a whole host of threats which can not only damage your PC but result in attackers stealing money, financial data or other sensitive information.

Our antivirus and anti-malware the same thing?

Confusingly, antivirus and antimalware tools aren’t exactly the same thing. Antimalware programs also known as malware removal tools are slightly different in function to traditional antivirus.

Antivirus focuses on prevention, protecting a machine by stopping it from becoming infected in the first place. Antimalware, however, is geared towards rooting out and destroying malicious programs that have already been downloaded and activated. While there is a lot of crossover between the two tools, many security experts advise using both antivirus and antimalware tools together in order to maximize protection.

Additional malware-removal tools are necessary because malware can hide, then reemerge, repropagate and reinfect, even if an identified virus file is flagged and removed by the antivirus program.

Malware may exist in a variety of forms, such as a file, a hidden file or a partially corrupted file; it can hide the mechanisms that initiate the virus, such as a start-up service or a registry item. In the worst-case scenario, the malware is working for a third party that aims to steal valuable information like bank account numbers or personal identifiers without calling attention to itself.

A polymorphic virus is one of the most dangerous which changes its signature every time it replicates. Antivirus programs are capable of detecting only one variant so they get confused. Security software developers chose the word “Antivirus” and sold the product commercially. As time passed, new types of infections came into play which were not viruses.
